A Cemetery Guide for Your Community

We can create or update your cemetery inventory. Contact us and we’ll discuss the next steps.

Managing a cemetery isn’t just about maintenance—a large part of the work involves record-keeping. Who has leased a grave site, which ones are available, when contracts expire… In many municipalities, this information is scattered across papers, spreadsheets, and various notes.

But without up-to-date data, it's difficult:

  • handles leases and payments,
  • are planning new burial plots,
  • or simply answers citizens' questions.

That is why we help municipalities compile this information using a cemetery inventory

Why bother (and why is it actually mandatory)?

Maintaining cemetery records is not just good practice—it is also a legal requirement.

A cemetery inventory is a way to fulfill this obligation in a way that makes sense in your day-to-day work.

What a cemetery passport will actually offer you

The main advantage is simple—you'll know exactly where everything is

Specifically:

  • an overview of all grave sites on the map,
  • clear information about which spots are taken and which are available,
  • a single place to keep records of tenants, deceased individuals, and leases,
  • an overview of payments and automatic monitoring of contract expiration dates,
  • the ability to quickly locate a specific grave or find information,
  • basis for the cemetery's further development.

This eliminates the need for time-consuming searches and a lot of manual work.

How a passport is made

We'll take care of the entire process for you.

We will survey the cemetery on-site and create a digital map of it. We will then add additional data to it:

  • the exact locations and dimensions of the gravesites,
  • photographic documentation of gravestones,
  • transcriptions of information from gravestones,
  • records of tenants, leases, and payments,
  • other elements in the cemetery (paths, greenery, outdoor furniture, walls).

The output also includes an orthophoto map of the cemetery, giving you a realistic, detailed view of the entire grounds.

It's not just a document to be filed away

A passport doesn't have to be just a finished document.

We will provide you with the data via the MAWIS Geoportal online map, where you can continue working with it:

  • easily edit and update records,
  • filter the data as needed,
  • export reports (e.g., to Excel),
  • view photos and the revision history,
  • share selected information with colleagues or even the public,
  • Set up reminders for payment and rental deadlines.

Integration with other systems

We can integrate the cemetery database with other information systems, if you use them. The map of grave sites created in this way can then be linked to the contract records in an external system.

We can also help you with the update

If you already have some records, but they are not up to date or complete, it makes sense to get them in order.

We can help you with both a new passport and:

  • by digitizing existing documents,
  • by filling in the missing data,
  • long-term management and updates.
