MawisUtility

MawisUtility simplifies the process of expressing network managers for builders

MawisUtility helps to automate one of the steps in the construction process - obtaining a statement on the existence of utilities.

For more than 15 years, MawisUtility has helped builders automate one of the most important steps in the construction process – obtaining a utility statement. It is used by designers, developers and the public to speed up and refine the application process in the engineering of their projects and future developments.

1. Key issue:

When preparing the documentation, the builder needs to find out which entities own or operate the utilities in the area and then ask them for their opinion. This step is usually time-consuming, administratively burdensome and often error-prone. In practice, problems such as:

  • Inaccurate or outdated administrator databases.
  • Difficult searches and contact details.
  • Different application formats for different administrators.
  • Risk of missing an important subject that may jeopardize the permitting process.

2. Solution with MawisUtility:

a. Automated selection of network administrators

After entering a specific area of interest (e.g. using an address or polygon), the application automatically identifies the affected utility managers. The selection is based on an updated database of registered technical infrastructure entities (RSTI), including both public and non-public networks.

b. Complete list of administrators with details

The output is a list of all identified administrators including:

  • the name of the entity,
  • types of networks,
  • contact details,
  • preferred methods of communication (email, data box, etc.),
  • specific requirements for submitting an application.

c. Generation of requests for comments

Based on the information obtained, the application automatically generates structured requests for all administrators. The requests correspond to their specific formal requirements and are ready to be sent immediately electronically through the interface, by email…

d. Export and archiving of outputs

The user receives a complete package of documents that can be archived or used directly in a building permit application. At the same time, he has all his application submissions stored in the application under his account.

3. Benefits for builders:

Function → Benefit

  • Single form for administrators → No need to fill in dozens of different applications
  • Up-to-date list of network administrators → Make sure you contact the relevant entities
  • Automatic filling in of applicant data → Saving time and minimising errors
  • Complete and structured application → Contains valid and mandatory elements
  • E-filing option → Speed up delivery and processing of applications
  • Coverage of the entire Czech Republic → The service works without locality restrictions
  • Overview of submitted applications → History, status and detailed overview available
  • Extended map documents → More precise identification of the site of interest

4. Practical example:

The designer plans to build a family house in the village of Středokluky. With MawisUtility he can do it easily and simply in 10 minutes:

  • It enters a parcel or polygon and finds the 14 administrators concerned.
  • They will obtain information and contact details, including specific requirements.
  • It will generate all requests and send them either electronically or by email.
  • The whole process, which would normally take 3-5 days, takes place in one afternoon.

5. Who recommends the service:

MawisUtility is a practical tool that digitises and standardises one of the most important steps in construction management. It ensures reliable selection of the network managers concerned, simplifies administration and reduces the risk of omissions that could lead to the rejection of an application. It is designed for anyone who wants to speed up and refine the preparation of building permit documents.

Major technical infrastructure managers also confirm their confidence in this tool:

EG.D, a.s., an electricity distributor, has been using the MawisUtility interface to receive structured XML requests into its internal system since 2015. The service is running 24/7 and also of high quality.
“MawisUtility, as a bulk filing service, delivers structured XML requests for comments to our system. The service is running properly and with the required quality.” – Tomáš Vařil, EG.D, a.s.

In 2022, Pražská plynárenská, a.s. integrated the MawisUtility interface with its own e-portal. The automated transfer of applications helps to speed up and simplify communication with applicants for comments.
“The deployment of the interface from the MAWIS UtilityReport filing room was carried out in the required time and quality. The operation is stable and functional.” – Michal Huml, Centre Manager – Technical Systems
